Daniel L. Monahan, MD is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, and completed medical school at the University of Hawaii. He went to Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio for his internship, and completed his General Surgery residency at Virginia Mason Clinic in Seattle, Washington. He is Board Certified in General Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. During his years of medical training he had the benefit of the friendship and instruction of one of the leading experts in vein disease in the world. After his training in General Surgery, he went into private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. Later he joined a practice near Sacramento, California. Finally, in 2001, Dr. Monahan decided to focus his practice solely on venous disease and opened Vein Surgery and Treatment Center of Northern California in Roseville, California. At that time, the traditional vein stripping procedure for varicose veins was being replaced by minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation (Closure procedure).
Dr. Monahan has the largest experience with this procedure in the Sacramento area. In addition to surgery, he has also included in his practice the most current non-surgical therapies, and sclerotherapy (tiny injections) for varicose veins and spider veins. Dr. Monahan is a member of the American Venous Forum and the American College of Phlebology, the two primary organizations committed to the treatment of venous disease. He has given presentations at annual meetings of both organizations, and published original research in The Journal of Vascular Surgery on improving treatment of varicose veins. He continues to collaborate with physicians and researchers in developing the best strategies in treating vein disease. Ask Dr. Daniel Monahan, MD a question |
